The dam has a capacity of 133 million cubic metres. It supplies water for commercial irrigation and the town of Beitbridge.
It is a zoned earthfill dam for irrigation, on the Umzingwani and Luhani rivers. It has ungated surface spillway with longitudinal sill. It has a tower intake and relevant E/M installations. Cut and cover outlet tunnel in the dam foundation.
