David Livingstone was the first European to see the Mosi-oa-Tunya waterfall, of which he wrote later, "Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight." He renamed them the Victoria Falls after his monarch, Queen Victoria of Great Britain.
The statue at Victoria Falls is of Livingstone gazing sternly out towards The Devil's Cataract.
